Founded in Melbourne, Australia, Fibre Flare was created by engineer and optical designer Xavier Jablonski, a passionate road cyclist who understood firsthand the risks riders face when sharing the road. Following a life-threatening accident while training at night, Xavier set out to answer a simple question:
Could cyclists be made more visible from every angle—not just from directly behind?
Drawing on his experience in side-emissive fibre optic technology and consumer electronics, he developed an entirely new approach to bicycle lighting. Rather than relying on a single point of light, Fibre Flare uses illuminated fibre optic technology to create highly visible 360-degree illumination, helping riders become more noticeable from the rear and from the side.
That idea became Fibre Flare.
And for more than 18 years, it has remained true to the philosophy that inspired it:

Fibre Flare made its international debut at Interbike Las Vegas in 2008, introducing cyclists to a completely different approach to rear bike lighting.
Just one year later, Fibre Flare received the prestigious Eurobike Award, recognising its innovative design and engineering excellence. The product quickly gained international recognition and was adopted by cyclists around the world, including distribution through Marui, Shimano's long-standing distribution partner in Japan.
