OUR THOUGHTS
We like what we see with the new CCD Evo and CCD Evo S. Literally.
Nova Ride’s launch material hits the expected notes of “Faster, stiffer, lighter and more aerodynamic than ever before!” and that’s absolutely swell. But we’ve always felt that performance gains are unnecessary post-rationalisation of this product category. You should buy these things because they look freakin cool.
Sure, there are some aerodynamic gains from the cage and reduced friction in the jockey wheels, but I don’t want to ride next to anyone who recites those numbers at me on the bunchie. I do want to ride next to the person who saw the anodised purple CCD Evo cage and knew it would look incredible on their Brilliant Purple-coloured TIME Scylon frame. That person has it all figured out. How you feel about your bike matters far more than how many watts you’ll save at 40 kph.
To be clear, Nova Ride has done it homework and made a faster product than the previous generation. We looked at the press kit and thought fwoooar that looks awesome before we looked at the numbers though.
